Judge Lauren Adams Ogden faces a 30 day suspension without pay beginning Nov. 8. The order follows a review of her conduct in family court cases in Louisville.
The ruling states that Ogden failed to perform her judicial duties competently. It also notes she failed to comply with the law in several cases she adjudicated.
Ogden's attorney said she agreed to the suspension terms. The pay cut starts at midnight on Nov. 8 and ends at 11:59 p.m. on Dec. 8.
Protesters gathered outside the Jefferson County Judicial Center on Monday to voice their concerns. One woman said her child was taken away from her because Ogden failed to hear her family in court.
Another protester told reporters that the group wants accountability for these judges. She argued that families have a right to have their children in their homes and that judges sometimes victimize families for standing up for their rights.
Ogden must complete an educational course related to the proper conduct of hearings and due process within six months of the order.
