Tallahassee, Fla. Rapper Plies posted a video on Election Day, Tuesday, thanking Black women for voting. The clip shows him speaking from outside a local polling place where he had just cast his ballot.
In the footage, Plies describes feeling moved by the number of women waiting in line and casting ballots. He noted that seeing them participate in the democratic process brought him to tears.
"All women in general are amazing but its something about my sista’s man, I just wanna tell y’all. Walking in that place and seeing y’all give y’all services, that sh*t really just chokes me up," Plies said in the video. He added that their presence reminded him of their caring nature and their constant investment in the community.
The Florida-based artist, known for the hit single "Buss It Baby," said the experience was more than just routine voting. He wanted to ensure his message reached the women who he described as being on the frontline. His emotional delivery offered a personal reflection on civic duty and community support.
Plies has frequently shared his thoughts on social media, but this message focused specifically on the visible effort of female voters. He credited the women he saw at the precinct with making their voices heard and standing up for their beliefs.
The video gained attention for its raw emotion and direct address to the women present at the polls. Plies did not specify a future political role in the clip, though the post followed a national day of voting.
