Indiana Races Tighten Six Days From Vote
A Quantus Insights poll shows the Secretary of State contest between Beau Bayh and Max Engling as a toss-up, while Democrats need four Indiana House seats to break the supermajority.

Six days from Election Day, Indiana's marquee races remain within reach for either party, and the contest for Secretary of State is a coin flip. Hannah Adamson, a statehouse reporter for Fox 59, joined Baker & Cruz on Oct. 28 to discuss the state of play.
Bayh and Engling met in debate this week. Adamson said neither candidate pulled ahead: "I'm not sure there was a clear-cut winner. I'm also not sure there was a clear-cut loser, right? I think that both candidates, they shared the same talking points that we've heard for several months now." A Quantus Insights poll has the race even. "It is truly a toss-up at this point," Adamson said.
Governor Mike Braun has thrown his support behind Philip Foust in the prosecutor's race against Ryan Mears. Adamson said the endorsement tracks with the governor's history with the incumbent: "I think that this support from Governor Braun is not surprising. We know that both the governor and Ryan Mears, they have been at each other's throats, metaphorically speaking."
Control of the Indiana House is also in play. Democrats must flip four seats to strip Republicans of their supermajority. Adamson said the shift would matter at the governor's desk: "It'd be easier for Democrats to try to veto, let's say, or if the governor tries to veto a policy, I think he'd run into a little bit of more of a challenge."
The 5th Congressional District is another contest to watch, where Representative Victoria Spartz faces J.D. Ford. Adamson flagged the district as one to track through the count.
