Cornell Young and twin brother dress as Smoke and Stack for Halloween

Cornell Young and his twin brother drew online attention on Oct. 31 for dressing as Smoke and Stack, the twin characters from the film Sinners. The pair’s costumes, which featured dapper attire, circulated widely on social media after Young shared images of the look.

The costume choice aligns with the film’s recent cultural footprint. Michael B. Jordan plays the twin characters in Sinners, and Spirit Halloween released an officially licensed costume line for the movie this season. For Young, who is 26, the pairing offered a direct parallel between his real-life brother and his on-screen persona.

The Halloween moment arrives during a busy stretch for the actor. He stars as Shaquille “Five Star” Johnson in the Netflix reboot of A Different World. The series premiered on Sept. 24, reached number one on the platform, and has been renewed for a second season. Young also appeared in Tyler Perry’s Netflix film Doing Life, which premiered globally in October.

Prior to the holiday, Young generated discussion about his personal life during an appearance on The Shop. He stated that he prefers dating women older than himself. Young attributed this preference to his upbringing, noting that he grew up around grandparents, great-aunts, and great-uncles who emphasized conversation.

“We speak, we use words. You express yourself a certain type of way,” Young said on the show. “All the women I’ve ever dated have always been older than me.” He added that he values maturity and real-life activities over current generational trends.

Co-star Darryl M. Bell joked on The Shop that older women would be interested in Young following his comments. TheShadeRoom reported that fans responded by posting comments encouraging women to pursue the actor. Young also shared a memory of being heartbroken at age 11 after a friend of his sister’s returned from college with a boyfriend.

Speculation about Young’s relationship status continues online. Fans have used the hashtag #YoungMoon to discuss a possible romance with co-star Maleah Joi Moon. The two were spotted together at a watch party in St. Louis. Neither actor has confirmed a romantic relationship. When asked if he is single, Young reportedly laughed and said, “I love my work.”
