Resident viewers can access four major horror releases from 2026 through their existing streaming subscriptions. The films span different subgenres, including post-apocalyptic, psychological, and found-footage styles. Each title is available on a different platform, requiring subscribers to check their specific services for access.
Netflix streams “28 Years Later: The Bone Temple,” directed by Nia DaCosta. The film follows 12-year-old Spike as he attempts to escape a cult led by Sir Lord Jimmy Crystal, played by Jack O’Connell. Ralph Fiennes portrays Dr. Ian Kelson, a researcher seeking a cure for the rage virus. The story shifts focus from zombie threats to human conflict in a dehumanized world. The movie functions as a standalone work for viewers who have not seen the previous installment in the series.
Peacock hosts “Obsession,” a film that has generated significant online discussion. Michael Johnston plays Bear, a man who uses a One Wish Willow to make Nikki, played by Inde Navarrette, love him above all others. Writer and director Curry Barker guides the narrative, which blends dark comedy with tragic elements. The film has established Navarrette as a prominent name in the genre and is described as a self-assured debut effort comparable to recent high-profile releases.
HBO Max offers “Backrooms,” a project based on a web series by Kane Parsons. Chiwetel Ejiofor stars as Clark, a furniture store owner undergoing a divorce. He discovers a wall that leads to a maze of yellow-tinted rooms. His therapist, Mary, played by Renate Reinsve, must eventually enter the space to resolve the situation. The film combines found-footage techniques with analog horror and psychological drama elements.
Hulu carries “Send Help,” directed by Sam Raimi. Rachel McAdams plays Linda Liddle, a corporate strategist denied a promotion by Bradley Preston, played by Dylan O’Brien. The two travel overseas on a business trip, but the plane crashes on a remote island. Bradley is severely injured, leaving his survival dependent on Linda. The film blends dark comedy with grotesque horror elements.
These four titles represent the most discussed horror releases of the year. Viewers can watch them without additional rental fees, provided they maintain active subscriptions to Netflix, Peacock, HBO Max, or Hulu. The films cover a range of tones, from unsettling atmosphere to darkly comic tension.
