The Detroit Lions and Jacksonville Jaguars will wear their new 'Rivalries' uniforms for the first time this Sunday. Both teams are scheduled to play at home with a 1 p.m. ET kickoff. Detroit hosts the Minnesota Vikings in an NFC North matchup, while Jacksonville welcomes the Indianapolis Colts. Although the designs were revealed earlier in the season, neither team has previously played in these specific outfits.
The NFL's 'Rivalries' program requires each franchise to create a uniform based on a theme connected to its local community. Detroit partnered with Nike on a design called 'Defend the Den.' This look features a white jersey, white pants, and a Honolulu blue helmet. The team stated that carbon fiber in the helmet decal symbolizes elite performance and links to Detroit's car and racing culture.
Jacksonville used a tribute to the city and Duval County as the basis for its uniform. The helmet is teal, a color the franchise has not used before. The word 'Duval' appears on the back bumper, while the '904' area code is placed on the front. The rest of the uniform consists of a white jersey and black pants. The team noted that the number font was heavily inspired by historic music venues and the southern rock influence in Jacksonville.
Other teams in the NFC North and AFC South have already debuted their rivalries uniforms. The Indianapolis Colts wore their design during a Week 3 win over the Houston Texans. The Green Bay Packers debuted their version in a 31-7 victory over the Chicago Bears in Week 5. Teams wearing these uniforms are 2-0 this season.
The home team wears the special uniform in each designated game. The remaining schedule includes the Jaguars at the Tennessee Titans on Nov. 15, the Colts at the Houston Texans on Nov. 19, the Lions at the Minnesota Vikings on Dec. 20, and the Packers at the Chicago Bears on Dec. 25. Each team will wear the new uniform once this season, but it can remain in the rotation for the next three years.
The program started in 2025 with the AFC East and NFC West divisions. The AFC West and NFC East divisions will follow in 2027. The AFC North and NFC South divisions are scheduled to unveil their designs in 2028. At that point, all 32 NFL teams will have a rivalries uniform.
