Consumers across the region should inspect their refrigerators and freezers for ready-to-eat meat and poultry products produced by Kayem Foods Inc. The company issued a nationwide recall for approximately 1.58 million pounds of these items due to potential temperature abuse during storage. Improper temperature control can compromise food safety even in fully cooked products.
The recalled products were manufactured between March 31 and October 7, 2026. Several brand names are included in this action. These include Al Fresco, Deutschmacher, Essem and Genoa, Jordan’s and Kayem, McKenzie and McKenzie Country Classics, Triple M, and Winnisimmet and Winnisimmet St. Butchery. Specific examples cited are Kayem Old Tyme Frankfurters, Fenway Franks, and certain Al Fresco chicken sausages.
Not every item from these brands is affected. Shoppers must verify the USDA inspection mark on the packaging against three specific establishment numbers. These codes are EST. M/P 7839, EST. P 20935A, and EST. M 9520. Consumers should also compare the product name, UPC, and lot information with the official recall list to determine if their items are included.
Kayem Foods advises that affected products should not be consumed. Individuals should discard the meat safely or return it to the store of purchase for a refund. For additional questions, the company is reachable at 800-426-6100 or via email at info@kayem.com.
The recall serves as a reminder that food safety requires attention after products leave the store. Local residents are encouraged to check their packages and share the details with family members to prevent the consumption of recalled goods. A quick review of stored meats can help ensure that households are not serving affected items.
