The 53rd Annual Daytime Emmy Awards took place in Los Angeles on Oct. 30, with awards presented for short-form programming, travel and adventure series, and daytime drama performance. The ceremony recognized work produced for daytime audiences across those categories.

Keke Palmer received the Emmy for Outstanding Daytime Short Form Program for "Glam Through The Ages." It marked her third career Emmy. Tracee Ellis Ross won Outstanding Travel and Adventure Program for "Solo Traveling with Tracee Ellis Ross." Ross had received five previous nominations for her role as Bow on the ABC comedy "blackish" and had not previously won. Her birthday fell on Oct. 30, the date of the ceremony.

The first season of Ross's travel series followed her to various destinations. The show has been renewed for a second season.

Tamara Tunie won Outstanding Lead Performer in a Daytime Drama Series for her work on "Beyond The Gates." The award came nearly 40 years after her daytime acting debut. In her acceptance, Tunie thanked her 92-year-old mother for support throughout her career. Tunie previously played attorney Jessica Griffin on "As The World Turns" and portrayed a medical examiner on "Law & Order: SVU," a role described in the source as the first for a Black woman on that series. Her "Beyond The Gates" co-star Ambyr Michelle received the award for Emerging Talent for her portrayal of Eva.

Red carpet attendees at the Oct. 30 event included Sheryl Lee Ralph, Jennifer Hudson, Tracee Ellis Ross, Keke Palmer, Kenjah McNeil, and Colby Nixon.

The Daytime Emmy Awards are presented annually in recognition of achievement in daytime television programming.
