Tiffany Stoner captured 63.2% of the vote in Indiana House District 25 on Tuesday. This result places the Democrat in the statehouse seat vacated by Republican incumbent Becky Cash. The district covers Zionsville, Whitestown, and parts of Boone and Hendricks counties. Stoner’s victory marks a clear shift in a race that was decided by 64 votes in her favor during the 2024 election.

The win is part of a wider trend where Democrats broke the Republican supermajority in the state House. Republicans held more than two-thirds of House seats since 2012. They also maintained a supermajority in the Senate since 2010. In the Senate, Democrats flipped several seats, but Republicans retained their overall advantage in that chamber. The Democratic gains followed a period where state Republican lawmakers did not redraw congressional districts to favor their party as requested by President Donald Trump.

The Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee identified six races in May where they believed challengers could win. Stoner was one of the candidates who received their support. She told reporters she prioritizes public education. She stated, "Public schools are the backbone of our communities. Families choose to live in House District 25 in large part because of the quality of our schools, and I'll work to ensure we prioritize and fully fund public education."

Lauren Cole won House District 37 in Hamilton County, unseating House Speaker Todd Houston. The district extends from Fishers north to Cicero and Arcadia. Cole, who is taking public office for the first time, said she will hold regular town halls and explain her votes. She added, "I'll explain every vote I take and be available to anyone, regardless of party."

Lindsay Gramlich also won House District 39, defeating Danny Lopez. The district includes portions of Carmel and Westfield. Gramlich, a nonprofit CEO, said she will bring experts and community members to the table for important decisions. In the state Senate, Spencer Deery won District 23 with 53.8% of the vote. He had to survive a primary challenge backed by Trump after opposing redistricting efforts.

Marion County Sheriff Kerry Forestal won Senate District 31 with 57.6% of the vote. He defeated Juanita Albright, a doctor and trustee for Hamilton Southeastern Schools. The district includes the northeastern corner of Indianapolis and the Fishers area. Forestal is term limited after two terms as sheriff. He said, "The extremes on either side of the spectrum don't bring us results. They just bring us speeches."
