Louisville Slugger released the position and team finalists for the 2026 Silver Slugger Awards on Thursday. Atlanta first baseman Matt Olson is one of four players selected for the National League first base category. He faces Jake Bauers of the Milwaukee Brewers, Alec Burleson of the St. Louis Cardinals, and Rafael Devers of the San Francisco Giants.

Olson played in All-Star Game action this past season. He finished the year with a .251 batting average, 41 home runs, and 93 runs batted in. His on-base plus slugging mark was .823, while his OPS+ stood at 123. He also recorded 314 total bases and scored 99 runs.

Among National League first basemen, Olson led the league in home runs, total bases, and runs scored. He placed fourth in RBIs, fifth in OPS, and seventh in OPS+. His batting average ranked eighth in the division. At 32 years old, Olson has been a finalist in four of the last five seasons but has not yet won the award.

The selection process combines specific offensive categories to create a final list. Each finalist is determined by their performance in home runs, runs, and total bases. The voting also considers batting average, on-base percentage, OPS, OPS+, and RBIs. This multi-stat approach aims to identify the best overall offensive performers at each position.

The finalists represent the top tier of offensive production for their respective teams. The award recognizes the player with the highest combined score across the designated metrics. The league evaluates performance across all positions using the same statistical framework. The process ensures that a single statistical outlier does not dictate the outcome.

The voting window remains open for the public. Fans can cast their ballots through the official Louisville Slugger website. The final winner will be announced on November 7. The award is presented at a ceremony held in Louisville, Kentucky.

Olson has consistently appeared on these shortlists in recent years. His current statistical profile places him firmly in the conversation for the honor. The other three finalists also posted strong numbers in their respective categories. The competition for the NL first base award is tight based on the combined metrics released this week.
