Hamilton County Polling Hitches Resolved
Local officials report two brief disruptions Tuesday while early turnout hits record highs.

Two Hamilton County polling locations experienced brief interruptions on Tuesday, according to the local Republican Party. Chairman Mario Massillamany stated that both issues were resolved quickly.
The county maintains 102 polling sites. Massillamany identified one location that opened slightly behind schedule. He explained that the Republican and Democratic inspectors arrived five minutes past the start time. That site began voting between 6:05 and 6:07 a.m.
Early voting numbers show a sharp increase over the previous election cycle. Approximately 70,000 residents cast ballots in the early period this year. That figure compares to roughly 40,000 voters in 2022. Massillamany noted that Democrats were highly energized, but he also observed a strong turnout from Republicans on election day.
Long lines have formed at several locations. Massillamany reported wait times ranging from one to one and a half hours. He attributed the high volume to continued population growth in the county. He credited Republican leadership for attracting residents from across Indiana and the nation to the area.
The chairman urged voters who have not yet cast ballots to head to their polling places immediately. He said he did not expect the lines to shorten soon. He emphasized that every vote counts.
