Cruise passengers on the One Voyage Cruise heard a full set of classic hits as Doug E. Fresh took the stage for the final act of the opening night. The performance capped a day of music that included sets from Teddy Riley and Major.

Fresh, known as the Human Beat Box, performed fan favorites such as “The Show” and “La Di Da Di.” The audience reaction intensified when he played “Let Me Clear My Throat,” turning the venue into a large-scale party atmosphere.

During the show, the Harlem MC paused to acknowledge Black excellence in the radio industry. He specifically recognized Ms. Cathy Hughes, the founder of Urban One.

“We’re talking about a black owned, radio conglomerate, give it up for the beautiful, powerful, Cathy Hughes,” Fresh said to the crowd.

The concert also featured an interlude where Fresh played “Teach Me How To Dougie.” He invited comedian Rickey Smiley onstage to demonstrate dance moves, a surprise appearance that added to the night’s entertainment.

Teddy Riley, the King of New Jack Swing, performed earlier in the evening. He appeared in all white and played a set of his own classic tracks. Backstage, Riley and Fresh shared a moment of mutual respect before the main set.

Riley addressed the attendees with a message to maintain the festive spirit for the remainder of the week. “Keep partying and don’t stop, live life to the fullest and keep God first,” Riley told the crowd. The first night of the One Voyage Cruise concluded with Fresh closing the program.
