Early voting for the general election began in Indiana on Oct 6 and runs through Nov 2. Election Day is scheduled for Nov 3. Residents in 72 of the state's 92 counties can vote at any designated location within their county of residence. This system, known as vote center voting, applies to Marion County and every surrounding county except Hamilton County. Hamilton County will introduce vote centers in 2027. In the remaining 20 counties, voters must go to their assigned polling place on Election Day.

The state sets two registration deadlines each year. The first falls before primary voting begins, and the second occurs before early polls open for the general election. Registration will resume on Nov 4 in preparation for the 2027 primaries. Voter information must be current to participate in the upcoming election.

Early voting typically takes place at county election offices. As Election Day approaches, additional satellite locations open. The Indiana Voter Portal lists the specific locations and operating hours for these sites. Voters must present a photo ID issued by the state or federal government to cast a ballot. Acceptable forms include active Indiana driver's licenses, passports, and U.S. military IDs. Residents without one of these documents can apply for a free, nondriver photo ID through the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles.

The Secretary of State's website allows voters to apply for a mail-in absentee ballot. Individuals with a disability that impairs the ability to independently mark a ballot, such as blindness or a dexterity disability, can apply for the traveling voter board through the same site. To check registration status, voters can visit indianavoters.in.gov and select the check voting status option. The site requires a name, date of birth, and county of residence. It then displays registration status, polling location, ballot details, and past voting history.
