At least six people died and dozens more were injured in a series of mass shootings across the United States over the Halloween weekend. The violence occurred in nightlife districts and near college campuses in half a dozen cities.

Dallas recorded the deadliest incidents. Police reported four deaths and 15 injuries in the Deep Ellum neighborhood. The area is a hub for music, restaurants, and nightlife. Police Chief Daniel Comeaux stated that three separate shootings took place over roughly 75 minutes on Saturday night. Investigators are determining if the incidents are connected. Comeaux noted that arrests were made but did not specify the number of suspects or the charges filed. The department had increased its police presence in the district prior to the shootings. No officers were injured. Comeaux described the scene as large and spread out while detectives interview the individuals in custody.

In Birmingham, Alabama, one person was killed and eight were wounded near Legion Field. The shooting occurred after the annual Magic City Classic football game on Saturday night. Chief Michael Pickett said the incident happened near vendors on Graymont Avenue after most spectators had left the stadium. Nearly 70,000 fans attended the game between Alabama State and Alabama A&M, where Alabama A&M won 31 to 28. Pickett expressed gratitude that more people were not injured. Police spokesperson De’Rell Freeman said one person was detained and multiple weapons were secured. The circumstances of the shooting remained unclear.

Six people were shot late Saturday near the University of Delaware campus in Newark, Delaware. All six were transported to hospitals for treatment. Police Lieutenant Greg D’Elia confirmed the incident. Main Street was closed for several hours. Police and university officials had not provided updates on the victims' conditions by Sunday afternoon. Social media videos showed people fleeing the scene.

In Bloomington, Illinois, a 19-year-old woman died and another woman was in critical condition following a shooting early Sunday. The incident occurred near the campus of Illinois Wesleyan University. Six other people sustained non-life-threatening injuries. It was unclear if those individuals sustained gunshot wounds. Bloomington is located about 135 miles southwest of Chicago.

In Fayetteville, Arkansas, six people were taken to hospitals with gunshot wounds early Sunday. A preliminary investigation indicates an altercation preceded the shooting. No arrests had been made as of a police news release.

Two people were killed in separate shootings at Spirit Halloween stores on Friday. In Fairfield, California, a 31-year-old pregnant woman died in a targeted attack inside a mall store. Six others were wounded. In Madison Heights, Michigan, a 21-year-old man was fatally shot at a store. Another man was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries after being assaulted by bystanders during his arrest.
