The National Weather Service projects a high of 67 degrees for the Chicago area on Saturday, October 31. This temperature stands out against the typical autumn chill and suggests comfortable conditions for families heading out with bags of candy.
First, the rain risk remains low. The weather service stated on its Facebook page that Halloween outdoor activities are unlikely to be significantly affected. Shower coverage is highest in the morning, and downpours are not expected during the evening hours.
Second, temperatures will drop after dark. Residents should expect values in the 50s or around 60 degrees once the sun goes down. This shift requires layers for trick-or-treaters who plan to stay out late.
Third, Sunday marks the end of Daylight Saving Time. Clocks will fall back one hour at 2 a.m. on Sunday, November 1. The weather service also noted that the weather pattern becomes more unsettled as the month changes, following the exceptionally quiet and dry conditions that dominated most of October.
The forecast continues through the start of the week. Sunday brings a high of 69 degrees and a chance of rain. Monday will see a high of 70 degrees. Afternoon showers are possible on Monday, with the highest chances for areas near Interstate 39 and west. Rain chances persist into Monday night.
