Tyriq Withers recently sat down with People magazine to discuss his life off-screen. The 28-year-old actor, known for his roles in I Know What You Did Last Summer and Him, was featured in the outlet's 2026 Sexiest Man Alive issue on Oct. 29. During the interview, he addressed his fashion choices, romantic history, and personal aspirations.
Withers grew up in Jacksonville, Florida, where his mother insisted he wear coordinated outfits to school. He recalled starting his own style in middle school with white skinny jeans, Hollister shirts, and Vans. Since making his acting debut in the 2020 series Atlanta, his wardrobe has shifted to designer brands. He wore a custom Louis Vuitton ensemble to the Met Gala in May, which included a sheer shirt and a crystal-studded jacket. He joked about his desire for a Birkin bag, noting he is not yet in the tax bracket to afford it.
His career has accelerated rapidly in recent months. Withers described the past year as a period of firsts due to the release of several high-profile films and premieres. He credited his role as Aaron in Season 3 of Atlanta for shaping his approach to storytelling. He noted that the episode, directed by Donald Glover, challenged him to find universal themes in niche experiences. He expressed gratitude for how that early work prepared him for his current success.
The actor also spoke about his late brother, Kionte, who died in a car crash in 2021 at age 26. Withers remembered how his brother became gentle and tender after becoming a father. He said he was inspired by the love Kionte showed his son, which filled a void from his own childhood. He believes his brother continues to influence his nephew's life spiritually and emotionally.
Withers shared his approach to romance, describing an elaborate gift he created for a former partner. He built a black-painted trunk that played her favorite song and contained personalized items. He also outlined his ideal date, which involves picking up his partner, sharing lunch, and then playing paintball on opposite teams. He said the outcome of the game would determine if they continue the relationship.
Looking ahead, Withers expressed a desire to build a full life outside of Hollywood. He wants to remain active in his creative work and pursue a large family. He stated his goal is to have two, three, or four children. He hopes to find wealth in friendship, family, and designer bags as he moves forward.
His interview appeared in the Oct. 29 issue of People. The actor plans to continue promoting his upcoming projects while maintaining his focus on personal growth and family.
