Incumbent Republican Gerald Greene now leads Democrat Harry James by 262 votes in Georgia State House District 154. The margin shifted after officials found a memory card containing uncounted ballots from Seminole County. The discovery reverses an earlier lead of 58 votes held by James.
The Georgia Secretary of State’s Office identified the discrepancy during a post-election check. A release stated that approximately 388 more voters were recorded as checking in at polling places on Election Day than the number of ballots reported as cast. The office notified the Seminole County Board of Elections about the gap.
The state agency is investigating how the memory card was overlooked. It will also determine whether required election procedures were followed. Officials are looking for corrective measures to prevent similar incidents in future elections.
Seminole County has until Monday to certify its election results. The race remains uncalled pending this certification process.
WCTV reached out to the Seminole County Board of Elections on Friday afternoon for comment. No one was available to speak at that time.
