Russian forces struck a humanitarian aid distribution site in Komyushuvakha, a village in the Zaporizhzhia region, on Monday. By Tuesday, the death toll from the attack had risen to 29. Authorities reported that 48 people remained missing as rescuers continued to search the rubble of the destroyed facility and shelter.
Acting head of the regional military administration Mykhailo Semikin described the event as one of the worst civilian tragedies in the region since the full-scale war began. He noted that the dead included four police officers and two rescue workers. At least five additional people were injured in the attack, which utilized bunker-busting bombs containing nearly 1.5 tons of explosives.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Russia launched 289 attack drones, 17 ballistic missiles, and 59 cruise missiles across nine regions during the overnight barrage. He observed that the strikes coincided with U.S. elections, arguing that Russia believed America would miss the signal. Zelenskyy called for increased defense of Ukrainian skies to stop the missile strikes.
In Kharkiv, a combined missile and drone attack wounded at least 62 people. The strike damaged a medical facility in the Nemyshlianskyi district, shattered windows in four apartment buildings, and damaged cars. Regional official Oleh Syniehubov said more than 200 patients were transferred to other medical facilities.
In the Dnipro area, a Russian attack killed one person and wounded 17. Rescuers pulled a woman alive from the rubble on Tuesday morning. The attack damaged an outpatient clinic and a hospital, prompting the transfer of patients, according to regional head Oleksandr Hanzha.
Zaporizhzhia declared three days of mourning following the strike. In response to attacks on energy infrastructure, rolling blackouts were instituted in the south, west, and east of Russian-occupied Crimea. Moscow officials also reported that 493 drones were fired toward the Russian capital, with the Ministry of Defense claiming it shot down 856 Ukrainian drones overnight.
A Ukrainian drone attack on an oil refinery in Yaroslavl wounded two employees and damaged infrastructure, regional Governor Mikhail Yevrayev said. The attacks on the night of Monday into Tuesday continued a pattern of strikes targeting power plants and civilian infrastructure across Ukraine.
