IndyGo will mark National Transit Career Day on Nov. 12 with two events focused on hiring and career education in Indianapolis.

The transit agency is holding its monthly hiring event to recruit new bus operators. The event is scheduled for Nov. 12 at IndyGo’s East Campus, Building B, located at 9503 E. 33rd St. Prospective candidates must submit an application and wait for an RSVP before attending. Selected applicants will meet with hiring representatives, learn about the job role, and review the training process.

Beth Bowling, Manager of Workforce Development, said the day offers a chance to show the variety of jobs available in public transit. “Public transit is powered by dedicated professionals who serve our community every day,” Bowling said. “National Transit Career Day provides an opportunity to showcase the wide range of careers available at IndyGo and connect people with meaningful work that makes a difference in the lives of our riders.”

IndyGo representatives will also visit Goodwill’s Excel Center in the Avondale Meadows area on the same day. They will speak with students about employment options in the transit industry.

The visit includes an informational presentation for a senior seminar class. IndyGo staff will outline the career pathways available within the field. They will also set up a table during lunch to answer questions from students interested in working for the agency.

The agency cites competitive benefits, paid training, and professional development opportunities as reasons to join the workforce. People looking for more details on current openings and the application process can visit Careers.IndyGo.net.
