Indianapolis Ballet will present a new production of Cinderella at Clues Memorial Hall starting November 6. The three-night run concludes on November 8. The performance features live music from the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, which will be seated in the pit.
Choreographer Victoria Morgan developed the movement for the show. The company spent five weeks preparing for the opening. Students from the School of Indianapolis Ballet also perform in the production.
Dancers William Robinson and Sage Simons will portray the stepsisters. When asked about their characters, the two said the roles have a wicked side. They described the production as staying close to the traditional Disney version of the story while including unexpected changes.
"It's pretty close to the traditional Disney fairytale-like production. There's some twists in there that you'll have to wait and see," Robinson said. Simons added that the combination of the ballet company and the symphony orchestra creates a special atmosphere for the winter season.
Robinson and Simons encouraged viewers to listen carefully to the stepsisters' dialogue. "Don't trust Cinderella, whatever she says about us," Simons said. "We're really sweet. We promise," Robinson added.
Tickets for the performance are available at IndyBallet.org.
