INDIANAPOLIS, Indianapolis police are asking the public for help locating Journey Mitchell, a 15-year-old girl who disappeared from her home three weeks ago. Her grandfather, Charles Mitchell, urged residents to share any information about her whereabouts.
Charles Mitchell said Journey told him goodnight on October 16 before going to bed. He discovered she was missing the following morning. At the time, she was on fall break from school. Charles later learned that she had planned to leave the house to meet friends for a social activity. He said someone coaxed her out of her room and guided her away from the property.
The family had prepared for Journey’s birthday celebration on October 20. That date passed without the event taking place. Charles said he is concerned because Journey has not contacted her family, a habit he described as consistent. He noted that she always kept him informed of her location if something seemed off. “She called me, so I know she knows my phone number by heart,” Charles said.
Charles said police have not provided him with an update since the disappearance. IMPD Missing Persons Detectives are actively seeking public assistance to locate the teenager. The department confirmed the case through a written statement provided to reporters.
People with information should contact the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children at 1-800-843-5678. Residents can also reach IMPD directly at 317-327-3811. The search continues as the family waits for news.
Journey Mitchell is 15 years old. She lives in Indianapolis. Her last known location was her family home. The disappearance was reported to authorities in mid-October.
